I’m not qualified to discuss the national security implications, but the video game applications are limitless.

I find it very hard to believe that we’re anywhere near being able to translate thoughts into actual words, but technology is a crazy thing.

I was at Epcot in Disney 10 years ago and played a cool game that allowed you to control a downhill skier using a thumbpad. The pad interpreted electrical signals in your thumb when you thought “left” or “right.” I was amazed it worked, and it was a simple game, but since that was a decade ago, I’m guessing we’re closer than you might think.

I remember seeing that at Epcot, and I am very disappointed we haven’t seen more attempts to make use of that tech.

    Hey Rob,

Are you done with the whole movie review thing? Or just haven’t seen much noteworthy lately? I enjoy your reviews and I noticed a while ago that things went dark.

  5. Rob Says:

Hey, thanks man. I keep meaning to get back to it, just been really busy. I also didn’t see anything for a while, but in recent weeks I’ve seen Quarantine and Religulous. I’ll get cracking.

  6. Rob Says:

OK, they’re posted at my site.

Sweet, I’ve been curious about quarantine. I’ll take a look!

At Wired Fest a few years ago I played a game where you had to move a ball that started in the middle towards your opponent by just using your thoughts. However, it wasn’t just “Go forward” or something like that, the idea was to try and relax as much as possible, and the thing on your head would sort of analyze your brain waves and determine who was relaxing more or something. Still, that’s extremely far away from “Dear Steve… How was your day… Send e-mail” etc etc.
