50M And Counting
October 1st, 2007Man, the DS has sold over 50M units since its introduction. I admit, I was a bit skeptical when it was first introduced - the two screens seemed a bit gimmicky. But I’m definitely a believer now - Nintendo was able to leverage its dominant position in the handheld market to get possibly the best software lineup since the NES.
I can practically taste Phantom Hourglass.

And the touchscreen combined with marketing non-gaming software to non-gamers didn’t hurt either.

At about one year old [if i'm not mistaken] the DS software was really starting to showcase a brilliant future. The DS is truly worthy of all the praise - not only daring, outlandish, and innovative, but to appease both casual AND hardcore gamers! Plus the wonderful, wonderful GBA BC? It really deserves its current course of overtaking the PS2.
the Wii on the other hand……
PS:
“Nintendo was able to leverage its dominant position in the handheld market to get possibly the best software lineup since the NES.”
Typos happen, so I’m willing to forgive your rather amateurish, stupid, idiotic, and embarrassing mistake of dropping the S in ‘NES.’

Ok, seriously, what’s with all the Wii hate? I don’t see how you can’t find a likeable game on Wii, but even if you disagree, let me oint something out:
“At about one year old [if i’m not mistaken] the DS software was really starting to showcase a brilliant future.”
Someone just tell me why the same logic never seems to apply when talking about Wii as with other systems?
