One-Liners

A few random thoughts not worthy of their own posts…

 - Why would you make a game out of a tv show whose humor comes from the fact that it makes no sense from one minute to the next?

- Sure, Robbie Bach may have sold a lot of Microsoft stock right before the warranty program was announced, but does anyone really think he didn’t know about the plans months beforehand?

- I think Assassin’s Creed may really be worth the hype… at least, now that it’s died down a little.

- Reggie Fils-Aime is fat.  Also, inexplicably popular.

- This might actually get me to buy a PSP… but Sony will never get me to purchase UMDs.

- In case you were wondering, politicians are still earthshatteringly dumb.

- Rock Band’s tracklist is already - in my rough estimation - a billion times more impressive than Guitar Hero II’s.  (Weezer, The Who, and Nirvana are already worth the price of admission for me, although the odds that I will purchase multiple instruments or any tracks beyond Enter Sandman, Vaseline, and possibly Dead or Alive are fairly microscopic.)

    This made me LOL

“- I think Assassin’s Creed may really be worth the hype… at least, now that it’s died down a little.”

I’m looking forward to the game too, but the demos we saw of it didn’t help it any. Admittedly, the hype was unattainable.

Also, you compare rock band to GHII and I agree with your assessment, but holy shit if the GHIII tracklist isn’t 10 x better than the GHII track list.

I mean cmon, this is tough to beat!

    Smashing Pumpkins
    Living Colour
    Pearl Jam
    Tenacious D
    Weezer
    The Rolling Stones
    Beastie Boys
    Alice Cooper

Ahh, too many “I”s for the GHs.. I’ll stick to using numbers.

GH3’s tracklist looks better than GH2’s, but it seems like Rock Band is definitely the most impressive and ambitious. Weekly downloads post release, entire ALBUMS to be made available? But I agree that there’s just too much stuff to buy for the game. Geoff, perhaps one of us can buy a Guitar kit, another the drum kit… and I guess just leave out the others (I have no interest in Karaoke anyway). Then we can play it maybe once every few months. =)

As for the redesigned PSP, it sounds much nicer, but it is being coupled with essentially a price increase again. I was also kind of hoping for a more substantial upgrade, particularly in the analog “nub” since many people complain about that. If I could get one of these new ones at $150, I’d probably get it. $200 may be pushing it…

    But hey, anything is possible… after all, I just bought a $500 PS3. =)
