Obscure Chinese Novels Are Not Gaming Gold
March 27th, 2007I’m going to come out and say it: Romance of the 3 Kingdoms represents everything that’s wrong with the Virtual Console. When they announced the VC, I had visions of easy access to every game in the Nintendo library. Instead, they’ve been dribbling out Double Dungeons.
But the problem isn’t just the meager release schedule. It’s the meager release schedule combined with the fact that the releases are games that just about everyone already owns. If Nintendo is only going to release a handful of games a month, I don’t need an 8th copy of Ocarina of Time. I need a first copy of Little Nemo (I rented).
Does anyone know exactly what is required to release a VC game? I had assumed that all Nintendo needed to do was put out an emulated copy of a title, taking maybe a day or two but not really involving much effort. Otherwise, why would they not release all their games in big batches?

If its quite old it needs a silly rating from some newer quango set up by the nanny state. Once starfox 64 has been checked for saxual content & cartoon violence, then its good to go. Still not hit vc yet, guess their waiting for a time when theres little or no games hitting retail; wait thats now isn’t it?
Oh well im always pleading poverty but a 360 & or PS3 combo is looking credit card tempting.
I still love the wii, if I only buy the nintendo 1st party games+the best offerings of vc then its money well spent. One thing on vc im looking forward to is the possiblity of sega saturn games, yes I know i’ve given no love to sega due to sonic, however the thought of playing virtua racing, daytona, panza dragoon, nights etc.. is pretty good; I never had these or the system. I will say i read that the saturn was coming to vc, as it would be a let down to find it not true or some april fools joke, I decided not to find out if it were true.
Just living the dream.
